ARIZONA BANK & TRUST INSTALLS A SECOND ACTIVE SHADE® SYSTEM...
Arizona Bank & Trust will install an Active Shade® solar canopy system for its Chandler branch, located at 1000 North 54th Street. The 180-solar module installation will generate more than 121 megawatt hours (MWh) of clean renewable energy, enough to power 10 typical single-family homes for a year and provide 73% of the Chandler Branch energy needs.
“We are building upon the success of our solar shade canopy installation in Phoenix, by commissioning one for our Chandler banking center,” explains Bill Callahan, Arizona Bank & Trust President and CEO. “We are seeing very positive feedback from our customers while also creating real community benefits with more shade while lowering our carbon footprint.”
“The Active Shade® solar canopy system provides an environmentally responsible, attractive shade structure with a financial payback,” says Jesse Henson, architect and CEO of Oculus Studio. Shade is a precious resource in the Sonoran Desert climate and Arizona Bank & Trust’s customers and staff will be able to enjoy 17 covered spaces. The project’s environmental benefit is equal to the amount of carbon sequestered by 101 acres of U.S. forests per year. The project is expected to be complete before Mid-2020.
The Active Shade® Arizona-based project team includes Oculus Studio as the architect and designer with consulting provided by Caruso Turley Scott and Rizza Engineering. The project construction team includes Resolute Performance Contracting, LLC and K2 Electric, Inc.
