The major design goal was to create an opportunity for comparing differences in solar energy generation provided by alternative photovoltaic technologies and applications. The new 12kW DC PV Pavilion and 20 kW DC roof mount applications were linked to the Solarville exhibit so that museum visitors and staff could monitor the performance. Secondary design goals were to have the PV Pavilion act a visual backdrop for the outdoor grass covered amphitheater and create a shaded landmark/meeting spot adjacent to the new Science Center main entrance.
